First Phase of Public Sector AI Training Successfully Completed

The Presidency of Turkey’s Digital Transformation Office has successfully completed the first phase of the Public Sector AI Transformation (KAYZED) Project, awarding certificates to participants. Launched to enhance technical personnel’s capabilities in developing AI tools, the program’s first training was conducted for employees of the Ministry of National Defense.

Graduation Ceremony at Presidential Library

The KAYZED Training Program’s First Term Graduation Ceremony took place at the Presidential Library, where participants received their certificates from Yusuf Tancan, Acting President of the Digital Transformation Office. Attending the event were Colonel Cevdet Uçar, Head of the Ministry of National Defense’s Education and Training Department, Serkan Acar, Head of Software Technologies, and Colonel Taylan Hoşgül, Director of the Defense Industry and Technology Training Center.

Expanding AI Adoption in Public Institutions

During the event, Yusuf Tancan emphasized the government’s goal of expanding AI use across public institutions. He stated, “The first phase of this project was carried out in collaboration with the Ministry of National Defense, setting an example for other institutions. I extend my gratitude to the ministry for their visionary approach. The 24 selected participants began their training on December 3, 2024, completing an intensive 140-hour program covering AI fundamentals, including machine learning and deep learning.”

Tancan congratulated the participants, expressing his hope that they will use their newly acquired skills to develop AI-driven projects for public benefit.

Strengthening R&D Collaborations in AI

Highlighting ongoing R&D collaborations, Tancan noted that the Digital Transformation Office provides technical support for various projects, including the Turkish Brain Project, Digital Eye Mammography, and Digital Eye Liver Project. He also mentioned that partnerships with the Ministry of Interior, Directorate of Migration Management, Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, and State Archives are actively advancing AI-driven innovations.

Tancan further emphasized that the KAYZED training would play a crucial role in supporting future AI research and development within the Ministry of National Defense, paving the way for more advanced AI applications in the public sector.

Turkey’s push for AI adoption in government institutions marks a significant step towards digital transformation. With the KAYZED initiative, public sector professionals are being equipped with cutting-edge AI knowledge, ensuring that Turkey remains at the forefront of technological advancements.
