Xiaomi has made a bold move in the Central and Eastern European markets with the launch of the Redmi Note 14S, a new addition to its Redmi series. However, this announcement has sparked some debates within the tech community, as the new model’s hardware is almost identical to that of the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G released last year.
Redmi Note 14S Features
The Redmi Note 14S boasts a 6.67-inch AMOLED display with a 120 Hz refresh rate and is powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, offering smooth performance for a mid-range device. One of its standout features is the 200 MP primary camera, which sets it apart in the mid-tier smartphone category.
Although the hardware is nearly identical to its predecessor, the Redmi Note 14S differentiates itself with a new camera island design, giving the phone a refreshed look.
Software Concerns
One of the most criticized aspects of the Redmi Note 14S is its software. When the Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G was released at the beginning of 2024, it came with Android 13, which was already seen as outdated at the time. Unfortunately, the Redmi Note 14S follows suit by also running Android 13, with no clear information about future software updates, leading to concerns among potential buyers.
Price
The Redmi Note 14S is available in Blue, Purple, and Black color options. Prices vary by country, with the phone priced at $265 in Ukraine and $260 in the Czech Republic. The global price for the 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage model is expected to be around $260 or €240.
While the Redmi Note 14S offers solid hardware for its price range, its similarity to last year’s Redmi Note 13 Pro 4G and the lack of software updates have raised eyebrows in the tech world.
