Türkiye’s Growing Legacy in International Sports

During the post-event ceremony, Minister Osman Aşkın Bak praised the flawless organization, emphasizing that such high-caliber events contribute significantly to Türkiye’s growing reputation in global sports. He noted that Sakarya is rapidly becoming a sports city, with continuous investments in world-class infrastructure. As part of his visit, he attended groundbreaking ceremonies for numerous sports facilities, including indoor swimming pools, sports halls, and football fields, all planned for various districts and the city center.

One of the most notable projects announced was the construction of a state-of-the-art canoe and rowing course in Mollaköy, which will be among the most modern facilities of its kind in Türkiye. This facility, designed to host both national and international competitions, is set to provide immense opportunities for young athletes in the region.

Investment in Sports Facilities Across Türkiye

Minister Bak highlighted that Türkiye is currently experiencing a revolution in sports infrastructure, with modern stadiums, indoor sports halls, and swimming pools being constructed across the country. This nationwide transformation is a reflection of the government’s dedication to promoting healthy lifestyles, encouraging youth participation in sports, and supporting elite athletes.

“Everything we do is for our people and our children,” the Minister emphasized. He urged families to bring their children to sports facilities and swimming pools, encouraging them to adopt active lifestyles and stay away from harmful habits. Special attention was also given to the rapid growth of cycling in Türkiye, with new facilities like Ayçiçeği Cycling Valley playing a central role in this development.

Community Engagement and Excitement

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the organizers arranged a bicycle giveaway for 54 lucky attendees through a raffle draw. This initiative was aimed at promoting cycling among local residents, encouraging them to embrace the sport as part of their daily lives. The energy at the venue was electric, with families, sports enthusiasts, and international visitors coming together to witness the thrilling races.

Local businesses also benefited from the influx of visitors, with hotels, restaurants, and shops experiencing increased activity during the event. This economic boost further reinforced the value of hosting international sports competitions in cities like Sakarya.

The conclusion of the Spanish leg will mark the end of an exciting season that has tested the endurance, agility, and strategic skills of the world’s best mountain bikers.

Sakarya’s successful hosting of this stage will serve as a benchmark for future events in Türkiye, demonstrating the country’s capability to organize and deliver world-class sports competitions.
