Bayraklı Municipality is bringing a vibrant lineup of summer activities to residents throughout August, transforming the district into a hub of culture, entertainment, and community engagement. From open-air cinema nights and street festivals to children’s workshops and women’s craft markets, the month-long program is designed to appeal to all ages.
Mayor İrfan Önal emphasized the spirit of togetherness behind the initiative, stating, “We wanted to embrace the warm and friendly atmosphere of summer here in Bayraklı. Our carefully prepared program will bring joy to residents of all ages, allowing us to create unforgettable memories together.”

Women’s Craft and Solidarity Days
The first major gathering of the month will be the Women’s Craft and Solidarity Days, taking place from August 12 to 14 at the 100th Year Mathematics and Intelligence Games Park. The event will be open from 19:00 to 23:00, featuring handmade jewelry, designs, and home accessories created by members of the Bayraklı Women’s Cooperative and participants from local community center courses.
In addition to shopping, visitors will enjoy talks, workshops, and children’s activities including face painting, sculpture and chess workshops, flamenco performances, clown shows, and recycling-themed events. On August 13 at 21:00, a concert by Burak Maral of the Izmir Metropolitan Municipality Turkish Folk Music Orchestra will provide an evening of live music.
Open-Air Cinema Under the Stars
Outdoor cinema, a beloved summer tradition, returns to Bayraklı this month. The popular Turkish film Bursa Bülbülü will be screened under the night sky at two venues:
August 15 at Turgut Özal Recreation Area, Bayraklı Coast
August 22 at Prof. Dr. Ekrem Akurgal Life Park, Cengizhan Neighborhood
Both screenings will start at 21:00, offering a relaxed and nostalgic movie experience.

Street Festivals for All Ages
Street festivals will add an extra layer of excitement to the August calendar. On August 19, Ahmet Taner Kışlalı Park (Osmangazi Neighborhood) will host the festivities, followed by Büyükpark (Soğukkuyu Neighborhood) on August 20, with both events starting at 18:30.
Children will enjoy puppet and balloon shows, stage performances, clowns, and creative workshops spanning science, art, astronomy, robotics, and archaeology. The Bayraklı Municipality Sports Department will add sporty fun with a survivor course, sack races, basketball, and penalty shootouts.
An Invitation to the Entire Community
Mayor Önal extended a warm invitation to all residents: “We have worked carefully to ensure that our citizens spend their summer months to the fullest. Our events span culture, art, sports, and entertainment, bringing the community together. We have prepared special programs for children and women, with open-air cinemas, street festivals, and women’s craft stalls showcasing beautiful handmade works. I invite everyone to join in this festive spirit and enjoy the summer together.”
