As traffic congestion increases and unpredictable risks become more frequent, kasko insurance continues to offer critical protection for vehicle owners in Türkiye. Covering everything from accidents and theft to natural disasters and social unrest, kasko has become an essential financial safety net for millions of drivers. Yet despite these benefits, the nationwide penetration rate for kasko remains at around 25 percent, even as the number of registered vehicles has surpassed 32 million.
According to Emrah Gökmen, Assistant General Manager for Retail Property Insurance at Allianz Türkiye, the scope of kasko goes well beyond the basics. “Kasko offers coverage not only for daily risks such as collisions, fire, and theft but also for unexpected incidents like hailstorms, floods, and public disturbances.
Tailored Solutions for Every Driver and Budget
Gökmen emphasized that Allianz Türkiye has introduced a range of flexible insurance packages to make kasko more accessible for all. The offerings include Mini, Eco, Comprehensive, Electric Vehicle, and Branded Kasko options, each designed to meet specific needs and financial preferences.
These packages come with 24/7 assistance services, including roadside towing, substitute vehicles, and quick damage repair through Allianz Mini Repair Centers. One standout feature is the “no-loss record protection” for original windshield replacement. Additional coverage includes landslides, storms, hail, and other rare but costly events, giving customers confidence in both the quality and reliability of their protection.
Moreover, kasko solutions are customizable through optional add-ons, allowing vehicle owners to fine-tune their coverage. This personalization makes kasko insurance more attractive to a broader audience, especially amid rising repair and maintenance costs that can strain household budgets.
Dramatic Differences in Kasko Ownership Across Cities
Gökmen also shared important regional data to highlight disparities in insurance awareness. According to Allianz Türkiye:
Manisa has a kasko ownership rate of 11 percent
Konya stands at 14 percent
Gaziantep is at 15 percent
Adana records 19 percent
Antalya and Mersin are tied at 21 percent
Bursa has reached 27 percent
Ankara shows 35 percent
İzmir is slightly lower at 26 percent
İstanbul leads with 42 percent
These figures demonstrate that many regions still fall below the national average. Bridging this gap is critical, Gökmen noted, by educating the public on the real-world advantages of comprehensive vehicle insurance.
Monthly Accident Data Reinforces Kasko’s Importance
Traffic accident statistics reveal the tangible risks that vehicle owners face across Türkiye. Referencing data from TRAMER, Gökmen pointed out that İstanbul alone recorded 128,000 accidents in June. In the same month, Ankara witnessed 40,000 incidents, İzmir saw 33,000, Bursa had 20,000, and Antalya registered close to 17,000.
This means that each month, between 1 and 2 percent of all registered vehicles are involved in some form of traffic accident. Such numbers underscore why kasko is not just an optional service but a financial necessity for responsible vehicle ownership.
Türkiye’s First Certified Sustainable Kasko Product
In a significant development for the industry, Allianz Türkiye has also introduced the country’s first certified sustainable kasko insurance. In 2024, the company aligned its product with the European Union’s Taxonomy for Sustainable Activities, meeting all requirements to be officially recognized as a “Sustainable Product.”
This eco-conscious kasko model is tailored for a range of car brands, including Ford, Volkswagen, Seat, Skoda, Fiat, Volvo, and Chery. It guarantees comprehensive coverage via authorized service centers and includes a fast-track claims process along with extended assistance services.
Furthermore, Allianz Türkiye has developed a unique Electric Vehicle Kasko Insurance package. This cutting-edge product provides protection against cybersecurity risks by covering electronic failures that may arise from hacking attempts—an increasingly relevant concern in today’s connected vehicle landscape.
A Shift Toward Digitalization and Customer-Centric Services
As part of its broader digital strategy, Allianz Türkiye continues to innovate in how it delivers insurance solutions. From mobile claims tracking to AI-powered policy customization, the company is committed to providing a seamless customer experience.
Gökmen emphasized that the future of kasko insurance lies in balancing robust coverage with digital convenience and personalization. Whether it is through mini repair centers, mobile apps, or branded services for electric and luxury vehicles, Allianz Türkiye aims to make comprehensive vehicle protection more practical and attractive for every driver in Türkiye.

Raising Awareness and Building Resilience
Gökmen concluded by stressing the need to improve public awareness around the role of kasko in financial planning. He noted that while accidents and damages are often beyond the driver’s control, preparing for them through smart insurance choices can mitigate long-term costs and stress.
“Insurance is not just a regulatory formality. It is a tool for peace of mind and financial resilience,” he said.
The combination of rising accident rates, increasing repair costs, and growing regional disparities in insurance coverage makes it clear that kasko has never been more relevant. With institutions like Allianz Türkiye leading the charge, more drivers across the country are gaining access to tailored, sustainable, and digitally enabled insurance solutions that keep them and their vehicles protected.
