In a significant development for Turkey’s industrial economy, the country’s automotive supply industry has achieved a new milestone in export performance during the first half of 2025. According to data provided by the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OİB), Turkey exported automotive sub-industry products worth over 7.67 billion USD to 202 countries, autonomous regions, and free zones from January to June. This figure accounts for a notable 38.4 percent of the total automotive exports during the same period.

This record not only highlights Turkey’s growing influence in global automotive supply chains but also demonstrates the strength and resilience of its manufacturing and logistics infrastructure.

A 6 Percent Increase Compared to the Previous Year

The export performance during the first half of 2025 shows a 6.17 percent increase compared to the same period in 2024. This growth is particularly remarkable considering the challenging global economic climate, including fluctuating raw material costs and changing trade policies in various regions.

Germany retained its position as Turkey’s largest export destination for automotive parts, with a total import value of 1.67 billion USD. This marks a 5.3 percent increase year-on-year, further cementing the long-standing industrial partnership between Turkey and Germany.

Key Export Destinations in 2025

Turkey’s top five export markets in the automotive supply sector during the January-June period of 2025 were:

  • Germany: $1.67 billion (up 5.3%)

  • France: $542.5 million

  • United States: $527.1 million (up 7.4%)

  • Romania: $509 million

  • Italy: $454 million

These figures reflect Turkey’s diversified market outreach across both European Union and non-EU countries, enhancing the sector’s stability against regional economic disruptions.

Spain Sees the Sharpest Rise in Imports

Among the top markets, Spain stands out with a dramatic 32.5 percent year-on-year increase in imports, totaling 440.2 million USD. Analysts attribute this surge to increased automotive manufacturing activity in Spain, as well as Turkey’s ability to quickly adapt to evolving technological standards and component demands in Western Europe.

This sharp increase may signal a long-term shift in Turkey’s trade dynamics, with Southern European countries taking a more central role in future partnerships.

Other Noteworthy Markets

Several other countries also contributed significantly to the export tally. These include:

  • United Kingdom: $359.7 million

  • Poland: $346.9 million

  • Czech Republic: $194.6 million

  • Belgium: $188.8 million

Together, the top 10 countries imported over 5.23 billion USD worth of Turkish automotive parts, making up more than two-thirds of the total sectoral exports. Meanwhile, the remaining 192 countries accounted for approximately 2.44 billion USD in exports.

An Expansive Global Reach

Turkey’s automotive supply exports in the first half of 2025 reached countries from all continents, reaffirming its strategic role in the global mobility sector. While major industrialized nations dominate the top of the list, even smaller economies and isolated regions received Turkish products.

The Cayman Islands, for instance, imported a modest $54 worth of automotive parts, highlighting the sheer breadth of Turkey’s international trade footprint.

What Makes Turkey Competitive in the Automotive Supply Industry?

Several key factors contribute to Turkey’s impressive performance in automotive sub-industry exports:

  1. Strategic Geographical Location: Positioned at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, Turkey offers efficient access to major global markets.

  2. Strong Supplier Network: With over 4,000 component manufacturers, Turkey has developed a robust ecosystem capable of serving both OEMs and aftermarket demands.

  3. Skilled Workforce: The sector benefits from a technically competent labor force, with a significant portion trained in advanced manufacturing technologies.

  4. Government Incentives: The Turkish government supports automotive exports through tax incentives, R&D grants, and foreign trade financing mechanisms.

  5. Quality Standards and Certification: Turkish companies adhere to international quality and safety standards, often certified by European and American institutions.

Sectoral Challenges and Future Outlook

Despite these advantages, the automotive supply sector also faces challenges. These include:

  • Supply Chain Disruptions: The global shortage of semiconductors and raw materials continues to affect the production cycles of several manufacturers.

  • Energy Costs: Rising energy prices have increased the overall cost of manufacturing, especially for heavy industrial components.

  • Geopolitical Risks: Trade sanctions, wars, and political instability in surrounding regions may affect trade routes and shipping costs.

However, industry experts remain optimistic. New investments in green mobility, electric vehicles (EVs), and smart component systems are expected to drive demand for Turkish automotive parts, especially in eco-conscious markets such as the EU.

The Role of OİB in Promoting Global Trade

The Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters’ Association (OİB) plays a vital role in sustaining Turkey’s momentum in this sector. Through trade fairs, buyer-seller meetings, and government advocacy, OİB ensures that Turkish suppliers are well-represented on the international stage.

In particular, the association’s focus on digital transformation, innovation, and sustainability has strengthened Turkey’s competitive advantage.

Turkey’s Automotive Future Looks Promising

With nearly 7.7 billion USD in automotive supply exports in just six months, Turkey is not only maintaining its industrial legacy but also paving the way for a technology-driven, globally integrated future. The country’s ability to adapt, scale, and deliver high-quality automotive components positions it as a reliable partner for car manufacturers around the world.

As nations continue to transition toward electric and autonomous vehicles, Turkey’s strategic investments and export strength in the sub-industry sector will likely play a decisive role in shaping the mobility landscape of the next decade.
