Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev is scheduled to make an official visit to Türkiye on July 29, following an invitation from President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The visit is expected to further strengthen the long-standing strategic partnership between the two Turkic nations and foster deeper cooperation across multiple sectors.
According to a statement released by the Kazakh Presidential Press Service, President Tokayev’s visit will include a bilateral summit with President Erdoğan in Ankara, where both leaders are anticipated to focus on expanding diplomatic, economic, and cultural collaboration.

Strategic Partnership in Focus
At the heart of the agenda is the 5th meeting of the Kazakhstan–Türkiye High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council. President Tokayev and President Erdoğan will co-chair this critical platform, which serves as the primary mechanism for directing bilateral relations at the highest level.
The council meeting is expected to produce a range of new agreements and joint initiatives, reflecting the two countries’ shared ambitions in trade, investment, defense, technology, energy, and transport infrastructure.
A Deepening Alliance Between Türkiye and Kazakhstan
Türkiye and Kazakhstan have maintained close ties since the early 1990s, when Türkiye became the first country to recognize Kazakhstan’s independence after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Over the years, the relationship has evolved into a strategic alliance underpinned by shared cultural heritage, economic interests, and regional cooperation.
Both nations are active members of the Organization of Turkic States and have emphasized the importance of Turkic unity in political, economic, and educational fields.
Economic and Trade Growth Expected to Be Key Themes
With bilateral trade volume continuing to expand, economic cooperation will likely be a major focus during the visit. In recent years, Türkiye has emerged as one of Kazakhstan’s key trade partners outside the post-Soviet sphere. The countries have also shown interest in diversifying trade routes and enhancing connectivity through initiatives like the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
Investment opportunities, particularly in energy, mining, construction, and logistics, are expected to be discussed. The upcoming council meeting may lead to new joint ventures and agreements aimed at increasing direct investments between the two countries.
Cultural Diplomacy and Regional Collaboration
In addition to strategic and economic discussions, the visit is likely to emphasize cultural diplomacy, education exchanges, and people-to-people ties. Türkiye has hosted thousands of Kazakh students and professionals over the years, and both governments continue to support joint academic and cultural programs.
The leaders may also exchange views on regional and international developments, particularly with regard to Central Asia, the Caucasus, and the broader Turkic world. As regional powers navigating a changing geopolitical landscape, Türkiye and Kazakhstan increasingly consult each other on matters of regional stability, energy security, and multilateral cooperation.

A Symbol of Trust and Shared Vision
President Tokayev’s upcoming visit reaffirms the high level of trust and alignment between Türkiye and Kazakhstan. It also symbolizes a continued commitment to enhancing cooperation in line with global shifts and emerging opportunities across Eurasia.
The outcomes of the 5th High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting are expected to lay the groundwork for long-term initiatives that will benefit both nations and contribute to regional integration.
