In a significant boost to Türkiye’s regional export economy, the Aegean Exporters’ Associations (EIB) has successfully facilitated 1.06 billion TL in government support for exporters during the first half of 2025. Through proactive outreach programs across the Aegean region and extensive engagement with local exporters, the EIB has helped a record number of firms access financial assistance offered by the Ministry of Trade.

This figure marks a staggering 88% increase compared to the 563 million TL in support the association mediated in the same period last year, reinforcing EIB’s growing influence in Türkiye’s export development strategy.

From 563 Million to 1.06 Billion TL: A New Benchmark for Regional Support

EIB’s expanded activities have not only increased the volume of financial assistance but also widened its reach. In 2024, 1,326 firms and cooperative organizations benefitted from state incentives; in 2025, this number jumped to 1,704, a 29% increase in participants accessing critical export support tools.

EIB’s Coordinator President Jak Eskinazi emphasized the importance of these incentives amid macroeconomic challenges:

“In an environment of high inflation, high interest rates, and a weak exchange rate, exporters are struggling to remain competitive. These state incentives are truly lifelines.”

Türkiye’s Export Landscape and Government Commitment

According to Eskinazi, the Ministry of Trade has allocated 33 billion TL in total for export-related support across Türkiye in 2025. The EIB is working tirelessly to ensure every lira is fully utilized.

“Our goal is to maximize exporters’ access to the resources already budgeted for. These supports are no longer a luxury—they are a necessity,” said Eskinazi.

He reiterated a long-standing request from the exporter community:

“We continue to advocate that annual export incentives should equal at least 1% of Türkiye’s total exports.”

Top Incentive Categories: Fairs, Branding, and Agriculture

Among the 16 types of government support offered to exporters through the Ministry of Trade, the top three categories in EIB’s 2025 reporting period were:

  • Overseas Trade Fair Participation – 389.78 million TL

  • TURQUALITY Branding Program – 207.94 million TL

  • Agricultural Export Incentives – 180.04 million TL

Other notable categories include:

  • Domestic Trade Fair Participation – 86.95 million TL

  • Market Entry Support – 79.55 million TL

  • Overseas Unit Rental Support – 42.14 million TL

  • Sectoral Delegations – 29.20 million TL

  • E-Export Incentives – 18.33 million TL

These figures show a clear prioritization of international market penetration, brand value enhancement, and agricultural competitiveness—core pillars of Türkiye’s export-driven growth model.

Expanding Export Knowledge: ‘Aegean Business Meetings’

To ensure maximum awareness and accessibility, EIB has been organizing its “Aegean Business Meetings” series across various provinces in the region. These meetings not only serve as information platforms but also create opportunities for exporters to receive direct assistance on state aid application procedures.

Eskinazi noted:

“Our most active internal department is the state support unit. We’ve scaled our operations to serve exporters more efficiently, especially SMEs and sector-based cooperatives.”

Through these outreach efforts, the EIB is ensuring that smaller exporters, often less experienced with bureaucratic processes, are not left behind in benefiting from available resources.

Strategic Focus: Turning Support into Global Reach

Exporters in the Aegean region achieved $9.022 billion USD in export value in the first half of 2025. This figure, alongside the facilitated 1.06 billion TL in support, underscores the effectiveness of targeted government incentives in translating financial aid into tangible trade performance.

Experts suggest that such incentives play a key role in overcoming structural challenges, such as logistics costs, overseas marketing expenses, and brand recognition in competitive markets like Europe, Asia, and North America.

Why Support Matters More Than Ever

Global competition has intensified. Inflationary pressures, logistics disruptions, and geopolitical tensions continue to test exporters’ resilience. In this environment, state-backed support mechanisms not only sustain firms—but also enable strategic expansion into new and higher-value markets.

Government incentives cover a wide range of operational needs, from fair booth expenses and packaging design to logistics, marketing, and digital infrastructure. For many firms, especially those in food, textiles, and machinery sectors, these incentives have become critical levers of global competitiveness.

What’s Next for the EIB and Export Policy in Türkiye?

As Türkiye aims to solidify its position as a manufacturing and export hub bridging Europe, the Middle East, and Asia, intermediary institutions like the EIB are becoming more essential than ever.

The EIB’s strategy in the second half of 2025 includes:

  • Enhancing digital application platforms for faster access to support

  • Expanding the reach of the “Business Meetings” to underserved districts

  • Advocating for simplified approval processes in future trade policies

  • Encouraging female entrepreneurship and green export initiatives

Conclusion: Building an Export-Ready Future

The EIB’s remarkable facilitation of 1.06 billion TL in export incentives in just six months demonstrates the untapped potential of coordinated regional export development. With strong alignment between public policy and private sector needs, the Aegean region is not only keeping pace with national export goals—but actively shaping them.

As Türkiye looks to expand its global footprint amid economic volatility, initiatives like these provide both financial stability and strategic clarity—turning local businesses into global competitors.
