BMW has unveiled the first official teaser image of the new iX3, the brand’s inaugural model built on the upcoming Neue Klasse platform, which will underpin all of its next-generation electric vehicles. The SUV will be formally presented in Munich, marking the start of a major design and technology shift for the German automaker.
The company had previously hinted at this evolution through two Neue Klasse concept cars, but the newly released photo offers the first glimpse of the production model. At the center of the design remains BMW’s signature kidney grille — now smaller, more vertical, and minimalist compared with the oversized versions seen in recent years.
The illuminated grille flows seamlessly into the headlights, creating a cleaner and more cohesive front profile that echoes the original 1962 Neue Klasse.

Beyond its new aesthetic, the iX3 showcases the technical potential of the Neue Klasse architecture. The platform has been engineered to maximize efficiency while preserving BMW’s hallmark driving dynamics.
The next-generation electric SUV will feature an 800-volt electrical system enabling DC fast charging of up to 400 kW. It promises a range of up to 800 kilometers (WLTP) and will be available in both rear-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive configurations, with a high-performance M Sport version also planned.
Inside, the cabin receives a complete redesign. The production model will debut BMW’s new Panoramic iDrive system, featuring a two-layer display layout that signals the brand’s future approach to in-car digital interfaces.
