Ensuring Healthy Food Consumption for All
The Manisa Metropolitan Municipality continues its relentless efforts to ensure the health and safety of its residents by conducting thorough food safety inspections across the city. According to the latest report from www.ankarahaberler.com, the Zabıta Dairesi Başkanlığı (Municipality’s Inspection Department) has inspected 513 food establishments in the first three months of 2025. Additionally, they swiftly addressed 218 complaints regarding food safety and hygiene during the same period.
The inspections cover a wide range of businesses, including restaurants, bakeries, and markets, focusing on ensuring that food safety standards are met. As temperatures rise, the department has intensified its efforts to prevent potential foodborne illnesses such as food poisoning, which can become more common during warmer months.
Regular and Effective Inspections
The Zabıta Dairesi Başkanlığı teams continue their routine inspections without interruption. Erdal Özçelik, the head of the Zabıta Dairesi Başkanlığı, emphasized the importance of responding quickly to public complaints. “We are constantly monitoring food safety in the field. When we receive complaints, we resolve them within two hours. Our complaint resolution rate stands at an impressive 97%. Together with local agricultural offices, we collect food samples and conduct bacterial analyses to prevent any possible poisoning incidents,” said Özçelik.
Thanks to these diligent efforts, Manisa has fortunately avoided food poisoning incidents so far. However, with the increasing heat, the inspection teams have promised to continue their vigilant monitoring to ensure food safety remains uncompromised.
Special Focus on Raw and Cooked Food Handling
Funda Üner, the Food Engineer from the Zabıta Dairesi Başkanlığı, shared insights into their inspection protocols. “One of our recent checks focused on businesses selling chicken döner. We ensure that products are not displayed openly, the establishments are clean, and that food items are within their expiration dates. Additionally, we check that no raw chicken is added to cooked chicken, and that trash bins are sealed properly,” Üner explained. The goal, she emphasized, is to protect public health and guarantee the delivery of safe food to the community.
Thorough Inspections in the First Quarter
In the first three months of 2025, Zabıta Dairesi Başkanlığı received and resolved 2,424 complaints and reports from the public, covering various issues. Among them, 218 food safety complaints were promptly addressed, and 513 food businesses were inspected. These proactive measures showcase the municipality’s commitment to maintaining high food safety standards and safeguarding the health of its citizens.
As Manisa continues its dedication to food safety, residents can be confident that their local government is working tirelessly to ensure that every meal they consume meets the highest standards of health and hygiene.
