According to data from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, hotel occupancy rates in Türkiye fell in June 2024 compared to the same month last year. Occupancy stood at 57.95%, down from 61.95% in June 2023, indicating that while more visitors are staying longer, room utilization rates have slightly weakened.

More Overnight Stays Recorded

The total number of overnight stays in June reached 25,272,640, an increase from 24,591,295 in the same month of 2023. Of these, 17,374,638 nights were spent by foreign tourists, while domestic travelers accounted for 7,898,002 nights. This upward trend in overnight stays suggests that visitors, particularly from abroad, are extending their holidays.

Over 8.6 Million Guests Welcomed

A total of 8,693,461 visitors stayed at accommodation facilities during the month. Foreign tourists represented 4,766,293 of these guests, while 3,927,168 were domestic travelers. Although visitor numbers remain strong, the dip in occupancy rates could be linked to expanded accommodation capacity or shifts in travel patterns.

Longer Average Stay Duration

The average length of stay increased from 2.85 days in June 2023 to 2.91 days in June 2024. This change is primarily attributed to foreign tourists extending their vacations, contributing to higher overnight figures despite slightly lower occupancy rates.

Tourism analysts note that the rise in overnight stays and extended visits reflects Türkiye’s appeal as a destination offering diverse attractions and value for money. However, the decline in occupancy rates may point to increased competition among accommodation providers or seasonal demand fluctuations.
